The Parker lab focuses on assay development for post-translational modifications, with an emphasis on protein phosphorylation by tyrosine kinases. Our team uses chemical biology and proteomics to develop tests to quickly screen for better inhibitor drugs, and/or determine effectiveness of inhibitors to improve patient outcomes during cancer treatment. We are an interdisciplinary group equipped in-house for peptide synthesis, analysis and purification, HPLC-MS and proteomics, fluorescence spectroscopy, Western blotting, mammalian cell culture, protein expression, and many other techniques. Lab members get trained in all of these techniques and have the opportunity to take their projects in a wide range of directions related to our central research themes of peptide biosensors and read-out technology development.
